Francis Carl Goertz, ­­63, of Richardson, Texas, passed away in his home on January 11, 2023, after a long battle with cancer.  He was born January 11, 1960, in Bastrop, Texas.  He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Gloria Wright Goertz; two stepsons, Michael Benson (wife Kristen) and Kevin Benson (wife Michelle); two step grandchildren, Cameron Benson and Julia Gutierrez; and four step great grandsons, Hendrix Martin, and Seger, Crue and Ronan Benson (who will miss their Gran Fran very much), as well as brothers Paul (wife Sandra), John (wife Carol), Al (wife Sandra), and Victor (wife Jan); sisters Mary Stewart (husband Jerry), Madeleine Matocha (husband Kenneth), Margaret Mikulin (husband John David) and Kathleen Rasmussen (husband Allen) and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Irene Goertz, sister Lucille Mikus and brother Charles Goertz.

Francis is a graduate of Bastrop High School, Bastrop, Texas, and University of Texas at Austin, with a BBA in Real Estate Finance.  He worked 12 years in the financial industry, after which he started his own hardwood floor/custom furniture business utilizing his talent and passion for woodworking.  Many family members and friends have been blessed with his “one of a kind” gifts. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening, but helping and sharing with others was of upmost importance.   

Francis was known as an honorable, kind and giving Christian who will be missed tremendously.
